Change of Prescription email address
Unfortunately we have had to change the old email address at short notice because of a technical problem. Please use the following new address with immediate effect:
miltonhouse.prescription@nhs.net
We were unable to place a redirect on the old address which means you should only receive an "Undelivered" message from your email service provider.
Any email sent to the old address will need to be resent to the new one. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Thinking of stopping Smoking?
If you are thinking of stopping smoking then help is close at hand.
We have a new Stop Smoking Service to help you quit which helps see you through the most difficult first 4 weeks.
An initial appointment with our nurse Helen will take about 20 minutes. Please book one at Reception if you are interested.
Alternatively, click on one of our "Useful Links" opposite to go to one of the available websites.
If you are successful in quitting for 4 weeks or more then please let us know.
Repeat Prescriptions
Please do not alter the quantities of medicines you require when requesting a repeat prescription from those printed on your prescription request slip. Whilst we understand intentions, this is likely to lead to delays in your prescription being processed.
If there is a need to synchronise numbers of tablets etc. please wait until you next see a doctor/nurse but please do not make an appointment specifically for this purpose.
Ear Wax Treatment
Ear, nose & throat specialists have advised us on the best treatment for wax that is causing deafness. We intend to follow these recommendations.
We will no longer routinely syringe ears for adults and will not do it at all for anyone under 16 years of age.
Further details can be found in apatient leaflet in the Waiting Room or at Reception or please click here
Changes to our online booking services
Our change of computer system means there are changes to the way you can book an appointment online etc. Please click here for further information and the new weblink required.
Unfortunately the ability to request online prescriptions is temporarily suspended but we hope to have that facility working by the new year.
Summary Care Records
Many of our patients will be receiving information packs from the NHS about plans to upload a summary of your GP medical records onto a central computer system. The Packs provide information on the benefits of the proposal, the initial information to be uploaded, who will have access to it etc. Please take time to read it so you can make a balanced decision on whether or not you agree with the plans.
There is a central helpdesk which has been set up to help answer any questions you may have. You can access this by telephoning:
0845 603 8510
A statement within the Pack advises you to contact your GP to discuss the information which will or will not be shared. In order to avoid placing additional pressure on our appointments system, please telephone the surgery in the first instance and a member of staff will pass you to someone who can discuss the NHS Summary Care Record proposals with you. If it is necessary for a doctor to become involved the member of staff will speak with them and either get back to you themselves or arrange for the doctor to telephone you.
We are aware that any patient wishing to opt out of these plans needs to complete a form which entails visiting another website or telephoning the central helpdesk to obtain one. The completed form then needs to be sent to us so that an appropriate note can be made on your records.
To assist you in obtaining a form to opt out, you may prefer to download one from here . Alternatively, you may collect one from Reception when visiting the surgery.
Please remember, once completed your form (one for each registered patient) needs to be sent to us.

Smoking Status
We remain in the process of updating the current smoking status for all our patients aged 15 or over. We need to know whether you have never smoked, are a current smoker or have stopped smoking (including the date you stopped).
We would therefore appreciate you taking the time to let us know either when telephoning the surgery or during a visit to the surgery.
Alternatively, you can send us an email with the information.

Chlamydia Screening Service
We are now taking part in the new Beds & Herts Screening service for patients aged between 15 and 24 years old. Anyone in this age group who is worried they may have Chlamydia just needs to provide a urine specimen to the Screening service and they will let you have the result in two weeks. It is all very confidential and you can even elect to have a mobile phone text message advising the result.
You may speak in confidence to one of our nurses on the telephone about the Chlamydia Screening service or simply collect a home testing kit from our Reception desk.
Alternatively you can ring the service direct on 01582 891221 or visit www.c-sure.org.uk
